HI ZEBEDY!!! Get this, I finally released the Demo version for Juicy the Orange! Click the link right here: Juicy the Orange by Joshington, play it, and tell me how you feel about the game by commenting on the Community page!
However, I've decided to cancel Juicy the Orange indefinitely, and there will be no future updates available for the game. Please check out Part 9 of the devlogs I've made for more information on why I cancelled Juicy the Orange: Part 9: Goodbye, Juicy the Orange... 🥲 - Juicy the Orange by Joshington. Thank you SO VERY MUCH for your ongoing support, and I hope you can see my other future projects in the meantime, as I continue to make other future projects in Godot 4.4, and you do you with PiN the Guardian Spirit. 🥹🫂❤️🍊
Sup Zebedy! I just played the latest Demo version of PiN the Guardian Spirit, and thank god you added the controls at the start of the game, and like I said before, this game has strong Rayman Legends vibes, with the zip line mechanic to the item collecting, and the speed-based movement along with the combat perfectly flowing with the gameplay really shines through! And I love how the first level of the game is also a tutorial section on how to utilize PiN's basic moveset, like on how to do melee attacks, techniques, and dashing, and I really love the jammin' music you put here!
Also, if you have the time, could you maybe add a starting cutscene to the game, or maybe a wall of text explaining the story of the game, because when I got a little bit further to the game, I saw some dialogue take place between PiN and some yellow light companion (I’m not sure what its name is, sorry.), and I got a little lost now that I know that there’s a story in PiN the Guardian Spirit, but it’s not really explained all the way. I would consider adding a cutscene so that if players even care about the story, they’ll know what’s going on in PiN’s world and also keeps the narrative of the game flowing.
Keep going, and you can make something truly special with this game! Also, love how you're focusing on community-based feedback to fix and improve your game! And as always, you and I keep in touch on each other's games!! ❤️🎮👾
Thanks a lot Joshington!
Much appreciated feedback!
For sure, I'll add more story related bits as time progresses - there's a few other things I need to do on the list first; but it's definitely something I want to put time into.
Either as a cut-scene, comic-book style cutaways or something else entirely. (His name's Sol, btw)!
Now, I liked of how you ported PiN the Guardian Spirit to the web browser, and it was running perfectly at first, but when I got to the main game, the game simply crashed, and I was forced to refresh the page. I'll just stick to the downloadable version. But anyways, good luck on your progress on PiN!
Hey Zebedy. Not sure if you read my comment, but here's what I said: "
Your welcome again! Also, I have something to tell you. Recently, in the Godot Forum, my account is currently temporarily on hold because of a flagged post that was removed by the staff in the post "Looking for early feedback for my game" by FreakyGoose (Here's the link: https://forum.godotengine.org/t/looking-for-early-feedback-for-my-game/118786 ) and it says by step system that my post was off-topic, and here's what I said: @FreakyGoose , this is awe-inspiringly **OUTSTANDING**, and very much looks like something from the Hollow Knight devs themselves, Team Cherry.
The visuals, the combat, the atmosphere, the animations, true love, care, and effort was put into this project, and it shows in every single aspect.
Can’t wait to see how this turns out in the end! Keep up the good work, @FreakyGoose and the rest of the team!
Also, @FreakyGoose , could you take the time to check out my devlog about my 2D platformer I’m working on, Juicy the Orange (Here’s the link for the devlog Godot Forum and my game page on itch.io: https://forum.godotengine.org/t/currently-working-on-a-2d-platformer-devlog/123473/29, and Juicy the Orange by Joshington , and you could also consider liking, commenting, and suggesting ideas on my devlog, and also consider following me on itch.io, and plus, I feel like it would be worth your time, since this is a HUGE learning experience for me using Godot 4, and I love to see how I vision it in the end! Thanks for sharing and checking out if you do!! ❤️🎮
So, unfortunately, I can't update my devlog for Juicy the Orange nor make any replies on the Godot Forum until 'm allowed access to my account again.
But, I'll still update my progress on itch.io, and it can be viewed by the world there! Just wanted to let you know about my situation, and I hope you still keep in touch and checking out my progress on Juicy the Orange, and all the best of luck on PiN the Guardian Spirit! Thanks a bunch for taking account of my suggestions about the options and controls!!! ❤️❤️❤️🕹🎮"
Sup Joshington!
That sucks.... are you still banned from posting on there?
Maybe the mod/bot wasn't sure if you were advertising too much if you're a new member on there 😳
Yeah Zebedy, I'm still banned, and I don't know when I'll get unbanned and start updating my devlog on itch.io, but like I said, in the time being, I'll have to resort to sticking around on itch.io to update my devlogs. I don't know if the mod/bot didn't know if I wasn't a new member on the Godot Forum, or if it accidentally flagged me. I mean, the title literally said "Looking for early feedback on my game", and I was just replying with a friendly compliment, saying that it can be very well be something from Team Cherry themselves, but I guess I'm locked out of the Godot Forum for now.
But anyways, have you liked the cover art I made for Juicy the Orange? I already know I said I was a little tired on working on it and that it was made entirely in Microsoft Paint. Now, I know Microsoft Paint isn't as full-featured such as Krita, GIMP, or Inkscape, but I worked around its limitations, and actually made a cover art!
Also, really love on how you ported PiN the Guardian Spirit over to the web browser! Now, when it comes to itch.io, I usually play games in the web browser, and not really downloadable (Though this only applies to smaller, bite-sized games.) I'm actually well surprised you were willing to port PiN to the web browser!
Now, could you add configurable controls to PiN? I love having when booting up a game for the first time, I always check to see if the game has any configurable controls, and then I change them however I like it. So, it can be a nice addition to add configurable controls for newcomer gamers and also myself, too.
Keep up the absolute excellent work on PiN the Guardian Spirit! I can't wait to see how much progress has been made by the time we get to the end of the year!!
Oh, and I've definitely been continuing to work on Juicy the Orange. It's just that I've been a little bit under the weather ever since I got banned off from the Godot Forum, but I'm not going to get it over my head! I'm now adding a parallax background to the game and a TINY bit smoother camera, and thanks a lot for the help about the health and knockback system, and the transportation system on itch.io, I'll take some of those cues you said with me!
Hope we both keep in touch! ❤️🎮🕹🍊
Simply WOW. Like, this is Rayman Legends type of quality. The music, the visuals, the art style, even right down to the gameplay is a console-quality craft of an indie game right here, and the fact that this is being made by ONE person is just inspiring. Definently an A-list indie game right here and there in every aspect in the visual department, IZdbe.
Thanks so much for the kind words Joshington! Look forward to constant updates!
Your welcome! Also, what I would most definently recommend is adding an options screen to the main menu. It would be very nice to change the volume down a bit or configure the controls!
Oh, and you could also have the controls be displayed before the game starts! With my first time playing, I had no idea what I was doing, but looking back at the description, I kinda wish the controls were also in the game, so I’d be prepared before the game starts.
Hope my recommendations adds to your updates! 😊😊
Absolutely - both of those are pretty high up on the to-do list!
I can add a quick diagram to show controls for now; and then I'll add the options menu which can let you change controls, audio, some accessibility options, etc.
They should be in the next update 😁
Thanks for the feedback again Joshington!

Can tell it's Rayman inspired without having played Rayman. The visuals are great. A couple gripes:
But overall very promising, and I look forward to your future progress!
Hey psr12,
Thank you for taking the time to give such detailed feedback!
I will be working on those suggestions - + luckily, I know whats causing the bugs.
Would like to thank you again for playing and reviewing; hope you stick around for the ride!
